We all need reminders to navigate life with intention, kindness, and resilience. Some of these rules are timeless; others might surprise you. None require perfection—just awareness. Whether you adopt one or all fifty, may they help you craft a 2025 filled with purpose, joy, and growth.

  1. Write down your goals, make a plan, and then work toward them; no one else will do it for you.
  2. Discover yourself, get to know yourself, believe in yourself, and fight for yourself; no one else will do it for you.
  3. Do things with passion, even if they seem small; you can learn and improve from everything.
  4. Call and visit your parents, children, relatives, and friends; don’t waste time waiting for them to do it first.
  5. Shake hands firmly, stand up straight, and look people in the eye.
  6. In a negotiation, never make the first offer.
  7. If someone confides a secret to you, keep it.
  8. Return a borrowed car with a full tank of gas.
  9. Do things with passion, even if they seem small. You can learn and improve from everything.
  10. Experience traveling alone.
  11. Never refuse a mint; the reasons are obvious.
  12. Be humble enough to accept advice if you want to grow old and happy.
  13. Go out to lunch with the new person at the office.
  14. When you write to someone in anger, finish and reread it, then delete it and start over.
  15. Don’t talk about work, politics, or religion at the table.
  16. Be fair, defend those who are abused without abusing them.
  17. Defend your point of view without offending or insulting others; be tolerant and respectful of others.
  18. Never regret anything; learn from everything.
  19. In moments or days of loneliness, relax, enjoy, and learn about yourself.
  20. Honor and loyalty are fundamental to your personality.
  21. Don’t lend money to anyone you know won’t pay you back.
  22. Make your bed when you get up in the morning.
  23. Sing in the shower and smile.
  24. Take care of and love at least one plant.
  25. Look at the sky whenever you can.
  26. Love your job, or if you don’t, look for or create one that suits you better, but it may take some time.
  27. Ask for help when you need it.
  28. Teach someone a value, preferably a child.
  29. Appreciate and thank those who lend you a hand.
  30. Be kind to your neighbors.
  31. Make someone’s day happier, but first make your own.
  32. Compete with yourself.
  33. Treat yourself to something small at least once a year.
  34. Eat well and exercise.
  35. Always greet people with a smile.
  36. Think fast, but speak slowly.
  37. Don’t talk with your mouth full.
  38. Polish your shoes and cut your nails.
  39. Don’t give your opinion on topics you don’t know about.
  40. Never mistreat an animal.
  41. Speak up against injustice.
  42. Never miss a wonderful opportunity to remain silent.
  43. Recognize someone’s efforts.
  44. Be humble above all else.
  45. Never forget where you came from.
  46. Travel whenever possible.
  47. Give way to others.
  48. Dance in the rain.
  49. Teach yourself to read at least five books a year.
  50. Seek success without giving up.
